🔥Fire & Emergency — The Barn Hotel
Call 999 on every activation — never assume a monitoring service has called. Everyone leaves when the alarm sounds.Never use a lift.
📍 Assembly point
[To be confirmed by the hotel] — e.g. the far side of the car park, away from the building.
🗣️ What to say on 999
"Fire at The Barn Hotel, West End Road, Ruislip HA4 6JB. The panel shows [zone / location]."
🛎️ Reception — when the alarm sounds
Treat every activation as genuine. Stop normal duties; note the zone on the panel if safe — never delay evacuation to investigate. Do not silence, reset or isolate unless authorised.
Tell the duty manager using the hotel's emergency communication arrangements.
Call 999 — Fire and Rescue, every time. Give the hotel name, address, zone, any smoke or fire, people at risk and a callback number.
Warn and direct guests calmly to the safe exits and the assembly point.
Take the records — only if safe: occupancy report, staff sign-in, contractor and visitor records.
Leave by a safe route. Do not stay at reception for calls or go to check rooms. Never enter smoke.
At the assembly point give the duty manager the records, panel details and anyone needing help. Report anyone unaccounted for to the fire service.
🔥 If you discover a fire
Raise the alarm — break the nearest red call point.
Get out, close doors behind you to hold the fire back.
Only tackle it if safe — small fire, you are trained, and your way out is behind you; otherwise leave it.
Report to the duty manager at the fire alarm panel or the assembly point.
🌙 At night
Working alone: call 999 first, then check the panel, then alert the affected bedroom wing. Tell the fire service what has not been checked.
With two staff: one covers the panel, 999 and the guest list at the assembly point; the other sweeps the bedroom wing from the affected zone outwards, knocking on doors.
🔁 After every activation
Do not reset until the cause is found — the duty manager checks the zone first.
Record it in the fire log book, and log any fault as a maintenance job in HosDesk → Maintenance.
